DEAN SINGER
Full Name: Dean Joshua Singer
Nicknames: D., Josh, Mr. S, Mr. Singer, Singer.
Age: Twenty-six
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Years Taught: One
Classes Taught:
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 135lbs.
Hair Color: Dyed black with blue highlights.
Eye Color: Grey-blue.
General Physical Description:Tall and skinny, this boy definitely has a punk rocker feel to him, even now. Skinny jeans and converse are most widely found in his wardrobe as well as an abundance of t-shirts and dress shirts. Vest, ties, hats, and jackets are common means for accessorizing. Every once in a while, Josh is known to put on a little eyeliner, but never at the work place. He tends to look a bit younger than he is sometimes, but that might have a bit to do with his personality. His dark/bright hair falls directly into his line of sight most of the times and is often seen flicking or brushing it out of the way. (Yes, the guy was an emo boy in high school). Josh doesn't have any tattoos but he does have his tongue pierced and can sometimes be seen clenching and unclenching it between his teeth while he's thinking. That or he's tapping his fingers on something.
Likes: Coke Zero, guitar, piano, singing, his students, thunderstorms, nighttime, rain, smiling, hugs.
Dislikes: Dr. Pepper (the stuff makes no sense D:), silence, having to play the bad guy, people who assume things off first glance, letting someone down, summer, being too hot, red pens, his insomnia.
Goals: To travel the world; to witness a miracle.
Fears: Driving in the rain, losing someone he cares about, is claustrophobic.
General Personality Description: It's been stated by some that Dean might have a bit of a Peter Pan complex seeing as this almost-thirty year old still has no problem goofing off and acting like a kid. He loves to smile and laugh, and he loves being able to make other people smile and laugh. He's a far cry from the silent, depressed boy that he was as a teenager. Dean is fairly open with people, having no problems making it known that he'd had a battle with drugs and an eating disorder when he was younger, offering to help anyone who needs it. He doesn't, however, talk about the reasonings behind it all in too much detail.
Of course, this child-at-heart knows when it is time to be an adult. When he walks into the school building, he's like a different person. He's still the general sweet and caring guy he always is, but he's more calm and professional... for the most part. He's known for being a more laid-back teacher, though he can be really strict at the same time. It really just varies from day to day. He can be a student's best friend, but at the same time, he knows he's supposed to be an authority figure. He'd much rather be their friend, though, and tries to teach them at that level. It seems to help most students more.

History: Ah, April 1st is a day Dean Joshua Singer's parents will never forget. It's the day that brought their little bundle of screaming joy into the world. Of course it only got better from there. The Singer family was heavily into the music business, Mr. Singer himself being the head of a record label. It came as no surprise then, that at a young age Dean followed in his sibling's footsteps and learned to play guitar and piano. It wasn't something he really enjoyed at that time, but little did he know, by the time he got to high school, music would be his lifeline.
Life was as peaceful and calm as it could be in the Johnson household with Mr. and Mrs. Singer fighting at least once a day over this and that, but Dean and his siblings learned to cope and tune it out, focusing instead on their hobbies. Dean didn't spend too much time at home as he got older, wanting to escape the constant battle for the shelter of his friends' houses that became more like home. Even when away from the fighting and the yelling, Dean's growing insomnia wouldn't let him sleep.
As a young teen, he and his friends experimented with all types of drugs and alcohol. Dean tried some of the heavier stuff, and as could be expected, he ended up addicted. The boy spent a good part of his high school career on some sort of drug, though even he himself couldn't tell you what had all been in his system at the time.
It was when Dean was a junior in high school when he got the phone call that changed his life. One of his friends had died of an overdose. That hit something heavily into his drug clouded brain, though he wasn't fully sure how it managed to shake him up enough. With the help of a counselor that Dean will never forget, the boy turned his life around.
He went through a great deal of pain as he quit cold turkey, but he was determined. The boy that had died had been the smartest and the best guy that Dean had ever known; and, Dean hated that he had to go while himself just continued wasting away. He was going to make his friend proud, though. He swore it.
Clean, happier, and no longer self-harming, Dean's last few months in high school were actually quite blissful. Once high school was completed, (though Dean was barely able to graduate while most of his friends didn't at all) the boy enrolled in a local college where he decided to take the time to learn more about his favorite subject: music. Dean was pretty undecided what he was going to do through his first year of schooling. However, that summer he volunteered at an arts camp and he found that he rather enjoyed being able to teach people the things he was good at and he knew well.
So, it was decided, Dean Singer would become a teacher. Of course, not many places would be willing to hire a teacher with blue hair. Dean refused to change his appearance, though, and that would severely limit where he would get hired at. There was, however, one place he figured would love to hire him, so he applied to Richards High, where he'd been a student himself. There were many fond and not so fond memories of the place, but one thing was for sure, Dean was ready for this.
